I provide training and consulting that unpacks what makes a team function as a unit and perform at its best. I use research from social psychology together with my own research on managing teams to give you insights that have been tested in real organizations.

My research showed that understanding how to increase your team identity reduces biases that team members might have toward each other, resulting in better performance, more innovation, and improved communication.

I can help you to understand the why and how and offer a number of approaches that will build team identity.

I am a meticulous and experienced editor. For over 15 years, I’ve edited public reports, academic articles (including as a peer reviewer for journals), and nonfiction books. I’ve also taught writing, so I am strict about punctuation!

I had a long career in nonprofits where grant-writing was a key part of my job.  I also worked in a resource development organization, writing proposals for internal contracts and grants as well as grants for clients.

My most recent experience has been on the funder side which has given me a better understanding of what to focus on and how to align with funding strategies.

I’ve published academic articles and served as a reviewer for journals, and I also produced reports for think tanks. My expertise is both in quantitative and qualitative methodologies, so I can help you with any of the elements of a report or article, including reviewing your methods, helping to interpret and explain findings, and researching and writing lit reviews.

Research and evaluation have been my bread and butter. I’ve always used mixed methods, combining quantitative and qualitative methodologies, so I can help with study design, methodology, surveying, conducting focus groups and interviews, data analysis, and both writing and presenting results.

I taught organizational psychology and management to both undergrads and graduate students at UC Berkeley and the University of Nebraska. I’ve also taught little kids in a number of venues, mostly in writing and reading. As a result, I could help you with curriculum development, designing courses, creating assignments… If you are desperate, I’ll help you grade papers!
